le weekend

I have finished Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and at long last have started Kafka on the Shore. I am really enjoying it. Every time I take a break from Murakami, when I do come back to his works, I am reminded over and over again why he is my favorite writer. I am trying to savor the book but it's not easy!

It was a great weekend, over too soon. Yesterday was warm enough for wandering around with no jacket, and ice cream eating. (Pistachio ice cream from Coldstone is delicious, as an aside.) Curiously enough, I slept until 11 yesterday. I couldn't believe it (well, in retrospect, I can believe it, since I haven't slept much in the past week).

However, getting up so late is quite alright with me, as taking a shower late in the morning is one of my favorite things to do -- because of one thing alone. On sunny days at that time of morning, the sun is in such a position that it streams through the blinds, making everything in my shower brilliant and shiny. If the shower steams (as it invariably does, because I love very hot showers), the light through the steam looks solid, tangible. It never fails to boost my mood.

In organic news, I am trying this today -- so far so good. I brought the regular stuff with me however, just in case it stops working. Heh. Just because I like organic products and alternatives doesn't mean I'm going to smell like a dirty hippy. :)
