where is our edward r. murrow?

Absolutely fascinating story on Edward R Murrow taking on Joseph McCarthy with his television show "See It Now". Why don't we have any news people with the integrity and sense of responsibility that this man had in standing up for the truth?
Here's something I found pretty freaky. A quote from McCarthy's response to the show that marked his downfall:
"...it's interesting to note that the viciousness of Murrow's attacks is in direct ratio to our success in digging out Communists."
...and a quote from our own president in reference to escalating violence in Iraq, despite the 'cessation of hostilities' last year:
"The more successful we are on the ground, the more these killers will react."
