Today I am celebrating my three year anniversary of me and my job. Actually, celebrating = questioning how did I make this far, why am I still here and when do I get to leave. Actually, client-wise things have been pretty busy lately, but my coworkers are getting dopier everyday.

Other things are going well too. I think I said a couple of months ago that I wasn't going on vacation this year, but I took some time off to go to Baltimore and D.C. and the 'Shore' (I feel so east coast when I say that).

I flew out to Baltimore a couple of Friday afternoons ago. I was going to drive there (about six hours?), but Southwest had a fantastic rate so I flew for cheaper than what I would've paid to drive. My friend picked me up at the airport and we went back to her house. That night we went to Baltimore's Inner Harbor for dinner and to look around. I like it well enough.

Saturday, we took the Metro to Arlington National Cemetery. I hate to be like a 'cemetery' was pretty cool, but I liked it. The Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider is pretty interesting to watch. We saw some of the other Memorials there (the Kennedys and the space shuttles, etc.). The view of Washington from there is incredible. Afterward, we walked to The Marine Corps. War Memorial. This is where the Iwo Jima monument is located. It's huge and very impressive in person. This is my favoritist (yes, favoritist!) monument. After that, we walked from there, back to the cemetery entrance and from there to Lincoln Memorial on The National Mall. We did a ton of walking, which wouldn't have been so bad had it not been a thousand degrees out that day. We didn't walk up the Lincoln Memorial to see Abe since I've see him before. We walked to the World War II Memorial, which is another impressive memorial. We took some pictures, and went to the Washington Monument and to the American History Museum. We didn't really stay there that long, that was mainly a stop to get some cool air conditioning. I've been there before too, so we checked out a few new exibits and left. We had to get to the Nationals baseball game. It was a good time, although the Nats lost 3-2. And I don't really like RFK stadium as it really didn't feel like a baseball stadium. I guess I'm used to Comerica Park. It was good to sit down and eat ballpark hot dogs and such. After the game, we metroed back to National Mall to see the Washington Monument and things lit up at night. It was pretty close to midnight when we left.

Sunday, we got up and drove to Assateague Island, MD. It's been so long since I'd seen either ocean and it was fun. We did ocean stuff like swimming and collecting shells and playing with sand crabs. A storm was coming though so we left and drove down to Chincoteague, the Virgina part of the island. It took us awhile to find the beach, but when we did, the weather down there was good so we did more ocean stuff. One thing about this island is that there are a ton of wild ponies that roam around. They are pretty neat to look at. We got out at this place in Chincoteague and fed them corn from our hands. Leaving town, we found a pizza joint and gorged until we were all stuffed and drove three hours home.

Monday, back in D.C. My friends had to work, so I metroed in with them. I was at a the Capitol Building at 7:45 a.m. and had to wait until 9. Some St. Louis hockey fans were behind so we chatted about the Blues and the Wings until they got sick of me. It was time to get my tour ticket anyway, I made the 9:10 tour (they did not). Actually, it ended up being about 9:40 when we started the tour after thorough inspections of all of our possessions at security checkpoints. Good grief. Although I understand why. The Capitol tour was pretty impressive as well. I love history and it was very, very interesting to me. The tour guide was awesome and really knew her stuff. After that, I went to the Library of Congress and took a tour there. The tour guide was terrible here and did not know her stuff. Good and bad tour guides totally make a difference on these things as I didn't really like the Library. It was pretty neat to look at, but I would not recommend a 40-minute tour. As soon as I escaped there, I went to the Supreme Court Building. In the basement, they have potraits of all of the past Justices and information. It was neat. I then had an overpriced lunch in the SCB cafeteria. The court is out of session so I didn't run into any supremes. After that, I walked down to the Mall, to the Sculpture Garden which has nothing but: sculptures. Across the street is National Archives so I went in to see the original Magna Carta, The Constitution and the Declaration of Independcene. This day was a thousand degrees again so I had to go to the Museum of Natural History to cool down. I metroed back to meet with my friend. I went back to her house, showered and we went to the mall.

Tuesday was a short day. I went to the Holocaust Museum which I'm glad I did on the last day because I was too sad to do anything else. It's quite a somber, sad place to be. My friend took me to the airport and after an hour delay, I flew back to Columbus. My trip was pretty relaxing and fun. I like D.C. a lot. Not enough to live in the area, but enough to visit more often.

Next week I am going to Detroit for a few days, although I don't really consider that a vacation. My mom is coming into town Tuesday and we are going up to visit my brother and his family on Thurday. We may or may not go to Cleveland on the way back Friday.

The week after that, I have a court appearance. My roommate and I FINALLY filed our small claim against the deadbeat ex-roommate to get some her to pay money that she owes us for bailing out of the lease. I don't think she'll show up, but we're still taking the action. On a funny note about this: a producer from JUDGE MATHIS (the cheesy afternoon tv judge) fedex'd us a letter asking us to forget about resolving this in small claims court, but instead ON THE SHOW. LOL.
