I'm not just talking about the way one of the partners frequently takes on a "feminine" role, but there's something in the way that some people write male slash that seems to take away the masculinity of the characters.

/guiltily raises hand - Yeah, I've done that once or twice. In my defense, it was a long time ago when I knew almost nothing about slash, and I've hopefully improved on that score since then. LOL!

I sort of try to think of a m/m couple the way I'd want to see a m/f couple, which is as equals. (This is what we see between Will/Elizabeth in canon, after all - the only thing that distinguishes their genders is their appearance and occasional clothing, really.) My brain isn't locked into "traditional" roles, so that was the blessedly easy part to understand of writing slash. :-D (And if I make one sappy, I make 'em both sappy.)

As for the first part of your reply, I've had a really hard time writing for quite a long time now - wanting to, sitting down to it, executing it, both for work and fun - and since I'd been writing since I was 12, this has kind of brought me down. But your remarks cheered me greatly and made me feel better about writing. Thank you!
