Woooo Munich went by in a blur!! Only because we were there for 1.5 days. We arrived in Munich the 3rd of October, around... 4pm? We were all starving too. We didn't have much for food that day because we're all kind of cheap. So we had some pastries for breakfast... some bread for lunch... i had some cheese + lettuce sandwich on the plane... a granola bar... gosh haha. Starving! But we finally arrive at our hostel, which is pretty frickin' nice, around 6ish finally after taking the metro and buses and stuff. We heard about a pub crawl that was going on that night so we figured hey why not that would fun. Meet some other kids from the area and have a grand ole time.
Ha so at the pub crawl tho, there are like 20 guys and 5 girls. The 5 girls in my group. When we walked into the pub tthey all stopped and stared, because they are all soo happy to see us. Quite interesting. There were some cute boys. None of them were German. We met some Aussies, Scottish boys, English boys, and Canadians. Yay for cute boys. So for the first hour of the pub crawl, it's free to drink as much beer as you can fit. Too bad I can't fit beer in my stomach because it's yuckie. But I had one beer. It was okay. I didn't want the beer because we still hadn't had dinner! The bartender brought our some trail mix stuff which my whole group devoured when it came out. It was some good tasting trail mix. So after the first bar, we travel on to the second. This bar is called Americanos. Fabulous haha. So we dance around at the pub. One of the many Aussies buys me a drink... a sex on the beach drink. It was tasty... tasted like summer! So I drank that and danced in a circle with the girlies and the boys would come up and jump into the middle. Interesting.
So on to the third bar! This one had a very woodsy vibe. Lot's of wood furniture. And lots of smoke in the air. Ew! I left smelling like smoke from that place. Some girls got up on the bar and danced. No thanks not me :) haha. But it was a fun place. Lots more English speaking people to meet. Nothing special happened at this bar. Just chatted with people. At this point in the pub crawl I was supposed to pay for my own drinks. And since I'm cheap, I didn't get anything else to drink ha.
We were supposed to go to the next pub with everyone, but my group tends to lag behind and walk a bit slowly, so we ended up losing the German Pub Crawl leader. So we got lost in Munich. Fantastic. Haha oh well. We found our way to the metro, go like two stops, then it closes on us. Great. So we set out to find a taxi, wwhich we do, but we run out of money about 3/4 of the way, so we get out, pay, and walk the rest of the way. What a fabulous night. Haha.
The beds in our hostel were amazing tho. I miss those beds!! The pillows were so big and fluffy they were fabulous. And the comforter that was on it big and fluffy as well. More like a down comforter than anything else. I wanted to steal it! But unfortunately, I had already stuffed my backpack to capacity so there was no fitting anything else.
So that was the first night. Onto the second day in Munich! Oktoberfest!! Which was a blast as well. A rather expensive blast, but fun nonetheless. So Oktoberfest to some is a big Beerfest, where everyone just goes and walks around drinking. Well it's not like that at all. It's a rather large family-oriented carnival where people aren't walking around with beers drinking. Yes there is a plethora of drinking occurring the whole day, but not on the streets. Just in the tents and the beer gardens. Or rather... the beirgartens. So we split into 2 groups of 4 because it's easier that way. My group wanders about the carnival, checking out the stands, eating some delicious candy-coated nuts, and enjoying the atmosphere. Lot's of families there. We were all kind of tired from our pub crawl, so we just lazzed around, sat on a bench and watched the drunk people stumble around when they left. This one 15y/o German boy comes up to us, drunk and high, and starts talking to us in rapid German.. and we're like uuhhh... No Aleman. Angles? Or however you say it. Oh gosh too much to write about this boy tho. Needless to say, completely harmless, except for the lit end of his joint, which came a little too close sometimes. So after this, we meet up with the other group of 4 and head off to a beirgarten to check them out. We find some room on a bench with these two Italians and start chatting. The atmosphere in these beirgartens are absolutely nuts. We order ourselves each a beer, and my lordy these beers are ginormous. One thing of beer in these gartens is the equivalent of like 4 cans of beer. You'll be able to see from the pictures I post. So I can only stomach one of these ginormous things. But everyone else is downing like 3 liters of beet. No thanks! But we met some fun people that day. All in all... a rather fantastic Oktoberfest experience.
And that's all of Munich. We left Friday morning EARLY for Paris. But because we're not the smartest people around... we think to wake up at 2AM to catch the metro to the airport. We're thinking that because it took is like 1.5 hours to get form the airport to the hostel, that it's the same thing going back. But we railed to realize that no metro runs at 2AM. So we wake up... think oh shit... and grab a taxi to the airport. Get there like 3AM for our... 7am flight? I can't remember. So we slept in the airport until out plane arrived. Score. And yet again, as always when we travel, we haven't eaten anything.
So that's that. Munich. Woohoo. I don't have any energy right now to do Paris. Paris was long. Munich was 1.5 days... Paris was about 3 days. So Paris next time! Pictures arriving on the page each day. Check 'em out! :D
