okay, I realise that

who can faint while such a river
ever flows their thirsts to assuage

is not the simplest of things to sing, what with the elided syllable and all; but

who can faint while such a river
ever flows and thirsts assuage

is simply incorrect.

Gerald forgot to play the last verse, so I didn't notice what they did with "all his boasted pomp and show"; but I bet it wasn't good.
