Every Woman: reveals and what I wrote

Jul 07, 2016 20:36

Five fics (my gifts: one Doctor Who [1963], one Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, one Burn Notice; what I wrote, two Doctor Who [2005]), so there will be two cuts.

These are my gifts:

Sleeping Arrangements (1756 words) by roseveare

“I’m meeting my drug dealer,” Xan says, instead.

Three important guns in Fiona's life.

I feel bad because I was only able to write a fic for my recipient as well as a treat, and I had a brain fart and couldn't treat anyone else. Sorry all. :(

I wrote both of these fics for
failsafe. My first fic for
failsafe was pretty much what I imagined Me's tenure of mayor of her street was like, from around the 1850s to "The Dalek Invasion of Earth:"

The Rise and Fall of Mayor Me (1178 words) by merryghoul
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Doctor Who (2005)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Ashildr | Lady Me
Additional Tags: Missing Scene, Pre-Episode: s09e10 Face the Raven, Episode: s09e10 Face the Raven, Post-Episode: s09e10 Face The Raven, Pre-Episode: s09e02 Hell Bent, Victorian, Future, London, Gallifrey
Summary: Or: A history of what Clara Oswald termed the "trap street," as maintained by Me for approximately three centuries.

But I have a confession about the second fic I wrote:

My Life a Mirror (1550 words) by merryghoul
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Doctor Who (2005)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Ashildr | Lady Me/Clara Oswin Oswald
Characters: Clara Oswin Oswald, Ashildr | Lady Me
Additional Tags: Echoes of Clara Oswin Oswald, Antarctica, Future, Nudity, Post-Episode: s09e12 Hell Bent
Summary: Clara forgot, then remembered, her splinters. It didn't make sense to her until she met Ashildr.

failsafe also wanted a fic that explored Clara's echoes and how they really weren't explored in show canon. Doing canon research, I stumbled upon a summary of the Doctor Who Magazine comic "Blood and Ice," where Clara actually encountered one of her echoes, Winnie Clarence. What intrigued me about Winnie was she had a roommate named Marianne. And I thought Marianne kind of looked like Ashildr/Me, right down to some of the piercings. From "Blood and Ice," I came up with a theory that some of Clara's splinters encountered women who looked like Ashildr/Me. But because Clara couldn't or didn't want to recall the lives of her splinters for fear she'd always see the splinters sacrifice their lives for the Doctor, she never noticed some of her splinters had relationships with the women who looked like Ashildr/Me. That's how I came up with the idea for the fic above.
