Self-absorbed talk of last weekend

May 12, 2006 11:38

Seems like I've been writing about my last weekends just before the next ones begin. Dear me.

Saturday, Christina and I hit Koroneburg (Corona's faire). Got a pretty hardcore bodice burn.

Sound & Fury was high on the positives of that faire. Really... I completely love Koroneburg. Richard picked Christina for the stunt double kiss part of Testaclese. She was reeling about Richard kissing her all day. So cute.

One thing that Southern has on Koroneburg is simply that they have many more shows and a greater variety of them. Corona has military re-enactments which are pretty amusing to behold. At Koroneburg, you don't shout "Huzzah!" as an exclamation of joy, it's "Oom papa! Oom papa!!" as everything's German there.

While there, met up with Christina (Yes, another Christ in the mix) and Max from Irvine. We got into a poo (wet brown sponges) throwing battle with the guy in the Fool's Tower. I got him in the face a couple times, but I really need to work on my pitching motion.

After Corona, we headed over to Monrovia for this year's BogFest, the special after-hours show Boggards does for the fairefolk. Proud to say that, thanks to Den Mommy Tracy, I'd gone since they were on the old grounds, when you had to be snuck in to go if you didn't work there.

Said our hellos to a few people, including Lurch. Seeing as Christina was doing Trixie that night for Rookie Horror and we needed to get her ready, we left mid-Belles' set.

It's always nice to come visit everyone at Rocky. Was still in garb, and finally met Brandon's friend, Dan, of whom I've heard several interesting stories. *wink wink*

For Christina's Trixie costume, she and I devised placing a wig in her underwear to come out of the edges (Got the idea from a behind the scenes story from "The Big Lebowski." When the Dude goes through the girls' legs during his 'Gutter Balls' fantasy, they pulled the same stunt). To set off the hair, she bought a bright pink bra and underwear set. However, the red spotlight that she had requested washed out the pink and made it look like she wasn't wearing anything except for the vinyl garter belt and her enlongated "pubic hair."

Oh the stories I've been hearing about guys in the audience that night. I mourn for the Art's clean-up crew. Probably not as bad as when Danielle trixies, or Scarlet Letter from WUT for that matter, but I hadn't heard so many different creep stories at once before. I'm so proud of Christina. ^_~

During the dancing before pre-show, a girl came up to me, pressed her nose to mine, glaring at me, and started singing along to what Marty was playing right then. After trying to rationalize why this girl was being so confrontational, and looking into her eyes, I finally realized it was Karen. Karen, one of my best friends in high school whom I hadn't seen in so many months. We hugged and talked for a bit. Rocky really is a place of pleasant surprises, not to be cheesy or anything.

Sunday, went to LACMA with Lee and saw the Gustav Klimt paintings for which they emptied out the Latin American gallery (Booooo!). The Diego Rivera they had in there before was much more interesting than the 5 Klimts, currently hanging there, put together.
