Dear Yuletide Author:

First of all, thank you so much for offering one of my requests! I've been doing Yuletide for several years now and I love it. I hope something I've mentioned in my details inspires you, but if not, go somewhere else with it. Like they say: Optional details are optional. Run with whatever works for you, be it my details or something completely different.

Secondly, I am shamelessly cribbing from my own letter from last year for my general likes/dislikes:
  • I'm not particularly picky when it comes to rating. I'll be just as happy with a gen story as I would with a mature or higher rating and vice versa, I promise. All I ask there is that the rating suit the story. Please don't feel obligated to force something into a certain rating if it feels wrong to you.
  • I am such a sucker for backstory and continuing stories, seeing what happened before we met the character(s) or after the end of the canon. That said, I'm totally cool with stuff set mid-canon as well.
  • I also really like stories that deal with characters who have to live unusual lives while feigning normality and the problems that happen when the two conflict.
  • I'm low on squicks but I would prefer to avoid pregnancy, babies and small children where at all possible. It's not a squick, it's just that stories about babies and kids usually bore me. Sorry.
  • I love angst in stories, but I also like my angst to be resolved by the end of the story. I'm not asking for everything to be super happy funtime with kittens and roses and party balloons, but I'd like some resolution.

Now, for specifics:
  1. Hancock In my request: "The movie gives a lot of allusions to Mary and Hancock and the history they have together, but I would love to see it fleshed out more. Pick a point in history and set them there. How did they live and what drove them apart? I'm a sucker for stories dealing with the problems with immortality and the like, so anything that touches on that would be fantastic." - I think what I said in my generalities definitely applies here. The conflict between wanting to live a normal life and not being able to is fascinating to me. Also, I just really love both characters.
  2. The Changeover In my request: "I'm interested in seeing Laura and Sorry post-book. What happens when Laura finishes school? What about their families?" - As I mentioned, I like stories that touch on pre or post canon. We get plenty about Laura's history in the book, but Sorry is purposefully vague, so that's a possible direction. And where do they go from the end? There's an age difference there. And responsibilities. Once again, these are people with extraordinary powers, attempting (or not) to live normal lives.
  3. Grosse Pointe Blank In my request: "So, what happens when the 20th reunion rolls around? Did Martin stay out of retirement? Does he even go? Is Debi still with him?" - I only asked for Martin, but I'd be perfectly happy to have Debi, Marcella and/or Paul around too but I didn't want to require anyone in particular. And I know I mentioned post-movie in my details, but if you've got a different idea for the character, go for it.

That's it, I think! I hope my writer has a fantastic Yuletide!
