Dear Yuletide writer!

So, first of all, thank you for offering to write for at least one of my requested fandoms. I hope what I asked for is something you'll enjoy writing.

Generalities first:
  • I'm not particularly picky when it comes to rating. I'll be just as happy with a gen story as I would with a mature or higher rating and vice versa, I promise. All I ask there is that the rating suit the story. Please don't feel obligated to force something into a certain rating if it feels wrong to you.
  • In the past I've had some similar themes to poke at in each of my requests but I seem not to have done that this year. Still, in general I like stories that look at power and who has it and what having power does to a person. I love themes of mortality/immortality and lives lived outside the norm.
  • One sort of common theme would be looking at lives either before or after the events shown in canon. I like seeing more of the story.
  • I would prefer to avoid pregnancy, babies and small children where at all possible. It's not a squick, it's just that stories about babies and kids usually bore me. Sorry.
  • Really, I'm low on squicks. The actual unwinding chapter in Unwind got to me, but short of that I'm not easily squicked.

Specifics:
  • Unwind -
    • My details: I know technically you're supposed to use all the characters I picked, but really I'd be happy seeing what happened to any of them after the events in the book. Did they ever meet up again, and how? I loved CyFi, so if I had to pick one of the three to focus on, he'd be it.
    • I nominated this fandom last year and I think I was the only person to request it and no one offered to write it. When I went to request it this year (yay, someone else nominated it!) I found that the character I most wanted to see last year had disappeared. So, if you could possibly find a way to fit Lev in there, I would be thrilled beyond belief. If not, I will totally and completely understand.
  • Push -
    • My details: Carver's a fascinating character to me and I'd love to get some backstory for him. I'd love it even more if it incorporated some of the other older characters like Nick's father and Cassie's mother. Something pre-movie, maybe foreshadowing the movie's events.
    • It's been a little bit since I last saw this movie but it seemed to me to be such a shame that there wasn't more to it all. The world that was built for it has so many fantastic possibilities both with further stories and backstory. I believe there were some graphic novels done as well, but I haven't read them so don't sweat either finding them or incorporating their canon into anything.
  • Hancock -
    • My details: The movie gives a lot of allusions to Mary and Hancock and the history they have together, but I would love to see it fleshed out more. Pick a point in history and set them there. How did they live and what drove them apart? I'm a sucker for stories dealing with the problems with immortality and the like, so anything that touches on that would be fantastic.
    • I think what I said in my generalities definitely applies here. I love seeing the problems that come with something like immortality or super powers and I loved the difficulties Hancock and Mary have and probably have had for their entire lives on Earth.
  • Mass Effect -
    • My details: There is no male/male romance option in this game and I find that to be so very sad. Shepard and either of the two I listed would be fantastic (or Thane and Garrus - I'd be cool with that!), but if that's not your thing then the three of them bonding over guns and stories would be great too.
    • I couldn't decide between Thane and Garrus because they're both so awesome in different ways. Really though, they're both killers, just with different mindsets about it. Barring anything romantic/sexual (which would be awesome but I'm cool with gen, as I mentioned), I'd love to see them hashing out their views on the mission, life, and maybe Shepard and the other crewmembers. They'd both certainly have interesting takes on the subject of mortality.

And that's it! Really, I'm very flexible and I will be thrilled with whatever I get because anything in one of the above fandoms with those characters would make me happy. Hopefully there's something up there that sparks an idea. If not, I'm sorry! Go with what you want and I hope you have fun with it!
