This weekend has been pretty decent.  Friday I called my Jersey buddy who I have been worried sick about lately. I am so glad I got to talk to her as I did again today. It ruffles me to no end that some people I know have so much and constantly complain about bullshit and this girl who is 26 and already experienced so much loss takes it realistically but takes it in stride and tries to see the humor in the whole situation-God do I wish I was more like her. I haven't been there for her like I should but I hope to change that. I have been making efforts to become less self consumed by doing volunteer work. Last WED I participated in an event at Target called Bright Beginnings were we go around the store with a less fortunate child and help them pick out back to school clothes. The little boy I had was delightful. He had a uniform at his school so we got him a couple pairs of Navy pants, 2 polo shirts, underwear, socks, a pair of shoes, and a jacket. We had $100 to spend and we realized we still had $10 left so we got a couple t shits to complete the shopping trip. He was a shy kid and was the type that needed a little extra time to get things done but very sweet. Although I don't particularly do well with kids and crowds, I was glad I participated in the event as it was a very rewarding experience. Thursday I went to the Hair Cuttery and for the first time donated my hair to Locks of Love (hence my last entry) -an organization that takes donated hair and makes hair pieces for cancer patients. I am still getting used to having 10 inches hacked off but my hair grows fast and I have gotten a lot of compliments on it.  Saturday I helped a work buddy who is separating from her husband move her stuff from the house to an apartment nearby. Two of her other friends came over and helped too and between the 4 of us we did a damn good job I must say.  After that I came home, washed up, and took Flirty over to the rents where we had a really good chicken dinner and some ice cream cake. This morning after Church, the rents came over for breakfast. I have since walked the dog and got some laundry done. This evening, the family and I are going to pack a picnic and see the Richmond concert band perform at an estate really close by. That's about it-tomorrow back to work.
