Every once in a while I think about how I should begin saving for retirement. How I should start planning. Though of course I haven't been able to find the little bit of extra money that would begin a retirement fund. I have also been thinking about money. Not so much retirement but more so the here and now so I can quit living paycheck to paycheck. The first thing I did was start using mint.com to track EVERYTHING. Every last red cent. It's become super handy, especially since it also has an Android app. The next step for me is consolidating everything down to a low interest rate loan so I only have one monthly bill instead of three. That's a work in progress. So you could give it a shot and see what happens. :)

So how do they earn their income? They state they earn a "nominal" fee sometimes from when usuer use their savings suggestions. Is this all?

Yuppers. For the most part it's all ad supported. They also toss offers at you occasionally when you check out ways to save through various vendors who also advertise with Intuit who owns TuboTax and mint.com.

writing down every penny spent, makes me think twice before purchasing something.

Being accountable to a little note book that makes me SEE what I am spending money on, really helped a great deal. No extra shoes, jeans, makeup, candy...fast food, acrylic nails...coffee...it all adds up super fast.

and having to write it down, really sucks too. LOLz

And I used to do that when having a checking account was a novelty and new as a teenager. But now I've gotten out of the habit, and it's difficult to break my old habit of not writing anything down but keeping a mental idea of my money.

*grin* Anything that would get me back on track would be better than nothing. Thanks.
