I got this e-mail from my boss today, since I am working- I am getting warned of frostbite...come on- this is a Nevada winter! Washington folks need to relax ;) :
Enforcement folks,
Due to the dangerously cold temperatures today, you have the following options for your shifts. You may take the day off or work a shorter shift. If you decide you must work, you can try to pair up with someone in a vehicle (only two people per vehicle please) or take many indoor breaks in buildings on your routes. If you are not properly outfitted for work today, i.e. hat, gloves, coat, scarf and warm socks and shoes, you may not work, period.
Those scheduled to work in vehicles should work their full shift taking several moments to warm up in the vehicles. Also keep track of those on foot to determine if they need a warm-up ride, etc.
