I Feel So Accomplished!

My office has a floor! This is an amazing accomplishment, as the entire second floor has been a disaster since about August. The second floor houses my office and my studio/craft room and long hallway connecting them. Of course, I haven’t used the room or the hallway (or the stairs leading to them) for their original purpose for months. Unfortunately the upstairs gets really hot in summer, and even with air conditioning I couldn’t stand to be up there. So every time I had to make buttons or work on something I’d drag it down stairs and mess up my living room or kitchen, and then when I was done throw it upstairs as quickly as possible. Usually on the floor and not where it belonged.

And there it sat, with a million excuses why I couldn’t get it together. (Too busy! Too tired! Too hard!) But I’m finally making progress. I’ve got my floor cleaned up, and my computer desk is even mostly clear. I have compulsion to fill any flat space with as much clutter and paper as possible and my desk had become practically unusable. But I got rid of the trash and art supplies cluttering the desk and most of the paper.

The battle isn’t won yet. My filing cabinet has a ton of paper on top of it, but none in it. And the worktable/sewing table is covered with “stuff I didn’t know what to do with.” But much progress has been made, and I’m pretty happy. Two spots of chaos is pretty manageable. And since I found my box of hanging folders, I can actually start sorting paper and putting it into my filing cabinet instead of adding to the tower o’ paper. The table doesn’t have too much stuff on it, I shoudl be able to get at least half of it put away tomorrow.

The temptation is to start on the craft room or hallway now (and the stairwell, where I like to put stuff that belongs upstairs but I’m too lazy to go all the way up), since some of the stuff that’s on the table belongs in the craft room and a lot of the stuff in the hall does too. But I know if I don’t completely finish this room it’ll be months before I get back to it.

Besides cleaning, I also finished up a button commission, worked on my fanfiction, and even did two drawings today instead of just one!
