So I had my longest run yesterday and it was ... not very good. For starters, I think it was only supposed to be 5 miles, but I got confused and aimed for 6, so then I was all the way into the Arboretum, so I headed out to Foster Island, assuming it would be under water, but it was quite dry. And then everyone was either having a picnic/nap or a photo shoot (4+ pro photographers), so I wasn't terribly inspired to run so much as take a nap. And by the time I got home it was more like 7 miles. And my feet were tired and I was out of water. And that was after a refill.
On top of the distance issues, my pace was terrible. Now, granted, I have to go up a steep hill to get home pretty much no matter which way I run. But I ended up doing a lot of walking a lot earlier than usual.
I think on my next run like this I'll map it so I'm done before I get home so I can stop at a coffee shop, take a breather, get some more water and some sugar, and then walk back up that hill.
Good notes: my new shoes were great, my arch never hurt and I was surprisingly un-sore today. And I still have a full year of NPR food news to listen to.
