i have a theory....
i live next to a strip mall. probably so does half of LA. there is a large space in this strip mall that has been empty since before i moved in 3 1/2 years ago - its a big space and its kinda oddly shaped and has a bit of a dome on top. its amidst a pet shop and car parts store and a kinkos copying (not retail) place and a nail place and a subway. i joked when i moved here with my first roommmate that the empty place was perfect for a bowling alley, cause of its strange shape. i am very glad that didnt hapen, as i and all my roommates/ subletters since would have been woken by bowling sounds to add to the general LA noise and craziness we get anyway.
but, a few months ago the empty space started to be worked on. and now its in full throttle - very loud, especially with the back door of the apt. open (which is why i was thinking about this today). and its nearly finished i think, as there seems to be an effort to put up a big sign on it and it seems like they are stocking stuff inside. and what they are making is this: a mood fabric store. yes, the same store they buy fabrics from on project runway in NYC. so my theory (yes, i tell stories in a roundabout way) is that perhaps project runway #4 is coming to LA (so many of their designers seem to be here anyway) and that they will shop at the mood in my backyard. in which case,
heyiya and i can sell/ comp tix to the filming sequences from our back balcony! and we can see tim gunn in person!* and make big signs that say "make it work!"
* of course, this would mean i would have to stay in LA in this apt. i have no idea about my future geographical location as of june at this point, but a grrrl can fantasize, no?
