local sights through foreign eyes - night safari & dymk bar...

Aug 11, 2008 01:08

Okay, here's the continuation of my adventures of playing tour guide to my Taiwanese friends a couple of Fridays ago...

If you missed the previous entry, here it is again: "Local Sights Through Foreign Eyes - Sentosa 1"...

After spending a short lazy afternoon at Sentosa, we made our way by cab over to another "pride" of Singapore:

Local Sights Through Foreign Eyes
Singapore Night Safari

Ricky and Fanfan at the Singapore Night Safari entrance

Bats resting overhead at the entrance walkway of the Night Safari

Queuing up for the Night Safari tram

Among the audience for the "Creatures of the Night" show

The show's about to start...

But before that, these girls behind us were playing with some cool light gadgets...

Still playing...

And playing...

"Is that guy taking photos of us or our light sticks??"

After all that twirly swirly lights, even my hands are shaky...

This is our multilinguistic Emcee...

"Please remember, I don't care how your photos turn out, but NO flash photography allowed ah!!"

Wolves

Wolf whistling howling

Hyena, I think... they all looked the same from far...

Binturong (aka Palawan Bearcat - according to Wikipedia) doing a tightrope

Random boy from audience picked to be part of the creatures show...

... to demonstrate how acute the Binturong's sense of smell is...

Then Hedwig, oops, some Owl, flew in for a cameo

And it DOESN'T rotate its head 360 degrees, thank you very much...

The Emcee and The Serval (an African Wild Cat)

This ginormous Python was actually lurking in that pit RIGHT BEHIND us all along for half the show!!!

And it took several of these tough ladies to carry it to the stage...

"Let's welcome the pet familiar of Salazar Slytherin!!!"

Can chit chat some more...

And they dragged Fred Flintstone, oops, one of the male audience member, on stage for more chit chat...

... and for some macho display...

"Let's see who's macho now..."

"Zhang Sheng Gu Li Gu Li!"

Can anyone say "Cheesy"?

"Erm, Fred, looks like the Python's found its mate in your shorts..."

Kthxbye!

Emcee: "No really, let's give Fred a BIG HAND!!!"
Fred: "Damn drama mama..."

Message from the sponsors: "You Otter recycle your rubbish"

Okay, I've no idea what THESE critters were...

Shadow Puppetry display at Night Safari entrance/exit

Waiting for the Singapore Zoo shuttle bus to take us back to town...

And TADA!!! We alighted at the bus stop outside Hotel Rendezvous, where Ricky and Sodagreen stayed last time

Fanfan on a local bus for the first time

Ricky on a local bus for the first time

"Can I do it a second time please?" "I tell you, tomorrow we'll be taking the bus again!"

And then we arrived at Chinatown area, and found ourselves at the newly opened...

DYMK Bar & Cafe

What's DYMK? Do you know? Most importantly...

Does Your Mother Know?

Fanfan, Edric and Ricky having a Fujifilm moment

Mother Knows. Mother Doesn't Know. And something or other that I forgot...

Ricky and his Mother Knows (or Mother Doesn't Know?)

Fanfan getting comfy

Edric and his Mother Doesn't Know (or Mother Knows?)

I don't really know, but it's not bad! I like!

Ricky and Fanfan caught in the head flashlights

Fanfan and her fantastically pineappley concoction... (LOVE that retro backdrop)

And then it's time to go...

But on the way back to the M Hotel where they were staying, we saw...

... an alcoholic casualty... poor sod...

Stay tuned for the next instalment of our local adventures in... Chinatown and Little India!
