to diko mou podilato...

After almost exactly 2 months of getting my very first bicycle (see past entry), and after many post-midnight riding practices on the roads around my estate, I finally made it from my place to Vivo City!

Granted, this 2.7km or so isn't terribly far, but for a struggling newbie cyclist like me, it is akin to reaching the moon. Okay lah, maybe not that far... :-P

With Mark's patience and assistance, we took around twenty minutes or so to travel that distance. With a few stop-starts along the way. And a minor crash into a bush (that's me trying to avoid some land surveyors)...

And today I also learned to pump my bike's tires at a petrol station. It's free!

Mark discovered a problem with one of the wheels' parts, so right after shopping and food, we rode over to the nearest bicycle shop at Lower Delta Road...

The shop folks readjusted and solved the wheel problem and tightened my bike seat as well, for a small fee of $2...

After that, we cycled back to my area for a much needed drink (didn't know cycling is SUCH a tiring activity!), and then Mark had to return home and back to his project work...

He had to cycle all the way back to Ang Mo Kio, can you just imagine?!

But I continued riding around for a while, just for kicks...

And oh, I have decided to name my bike...

ALEOCA
Don't ask me what that means, as it's actually the name of the bike company. But it sounds kinda nice and catchy, don't you think?

Last but not least, this entry's title, "to diko mou podilato", simply means "my bicycle" in Greek...

Why Greek?

Why not? :-P
