Beach Blues
The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds
thrown across a pink velvet sunset.
The warm sand caresses my feet as I
walk weightlessly into the open sea.
Dim sunlight glistens over the
vast and endless blue blanket.
A soft breeze kisses my curly brown hair
and sends it wild.
It reminds me of the night you held
back my hair while I vomitted for hours.
I take a breath and freely run through
the many memories of you and me.
Feeling the water hit my skin takes me
back to the hot steamy showers.
Looking into a pink sunset sends me back
under the hot Arizona sun where we fell in love.
Each grain of sand symbolizes
each time I think about you.
The dimming sunlight sadly reminds me
that all things eventually come to an end.
