This & That
Spring is coming. I know this because the annual Cat Fur Tumbleweeds have begun appearing in the hallway.
I made beet pickles last night out of The Little House Cookbook. I think I've made them before. That is, I know I've made beet pickles before; I can't remember if it was this recipe. So, I'm not checking the cookbook off the project list yet. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to pick something else to make from that book. It's one of the harder ones as I've had it since I was wee and I've used it a lot.
By the way, processing canning jars is so much easier with a pasta insert. It didn't come into play last night as the pickle crock is going to live in the fridge. When I made jam in the fall, it made my life so much easier to remove the insert rather than trying to get each full jar out without scalding myself. I know a jar lifter would also make my life easier, but I don't can enough to justify owning one.
The next time I make a quilt I'm just going to cut the batting and backing bigger that the top and cut them down. Silly me, I just had to follow the instructions and now everything is fiddly.
My sewing room is a disaster. I have no idea where to put all this stuff. Especially the new enormous peacock feather fans. They don't fold.
Speaking of stuff in my sewing room, I have a quantity of magazines, some of SCA interest, that should find a new home. I'll post a list soon.
