By the way, although I know it's War Week, LJ has still been ridiculously quiet.
Last night
new_man made a lovely dinner. It was too muggy for cooking, so he served homemade gazpacho (right out of the blender) and aguacates rellenos (stuffed avocados), one of my favorite treats from Mexico. Instead of filing the avocados with shrimp salad made with too much mayonnaise, as it's usually served, he made a salad out of crab with celery and garlic scapes, seasoned with fresh lime and cumin, mixed with sour cream. So good. I have the other half for lunch today.
The we watched "
Sunset Murder Case"1, a movie from 1938 starring Sally Rand as a cop's daughter who goes undercover as a stripper to catch the gangster who killed her father. She does her bubble dance (7:48) and a peacock dance (22:30), but no fan dance. At least I don't think so... I fell asleep part way through... It was barely 8 o'clock!
new_man also having fallen asleep, we decided to go for a walk. There really isn't anywhere good to walk in our neighborhood, so we drove out to Castle Island and strolled around the fort and down the boardwalk. Nice.
Just have to make it through one more tedious day of work.
1 Apparently originally entitled "The Sunset Strip Case", but the censors wouldn't allow it. Predictably, the movie was Banned in Boston.
