ああ~!久しぶりだなあ~ あら!テレビの番組は荒川さんがいるの! Lol, that is probably so wrong, but it`s fun to type in Japanese. Jaaa, soshite..

Lately I`ve been reflecting a lot. Thinking of things such as exactly what I like and dislike about Japan, emotions that change and others that stay, dreams for the future...this brain`s been busy what with these things and the work for this week ~_~ One thing I think of a lot is siblings. I`ve always wanted some, but never really got to have that 24/7 7 days a week younger sister experience until I came here (lol, although I`ve certainly given Alice an earful since we were young--sorry!!!). Nene was like a real little sister.  Super sweet sometimes...randomly biting me other times...but always there and always Nene.   I miss her, but it certainly is easier getting my homework done...Kikka was great too, but I don`t miss the early-morning crying ;)

That was my childhood dream (having a sister)! Heh, it is also one of the few vocab that I remember from my French lessons with my mother`s student Natalie from looong ago.  Natalie would bring magazines and together we`d cut out pictures and then cover the French words for them.  Twas fun, but like many kids there were times when I didn`t want to study...Oh, the other phrase I remembered loving was `Mom, please bring home pizza tonight.`  Somewhere mom has an audio tape of Natalie and me practicing, and those two phrases are prominent.
Speaking of childhood, another treasured memory is the old `Japan house` that used to be on Sorority Row at UA.  Anyone else remember that?  It was sooo cool!  Sliding doors, Ofuro, little kitchen where the Japanese study abroad students would make sushi and rice covered in dried fish eggs...best place ever! [One time I was hanging out there and eating rice using chopsticks when a Japanese guy with a video camera asked if he could record me eating. Lol, that was so random. I bet I was holding the chopsticks weird, but thankfully I didn`t drop anything.] CHOM has a mini-Japan house now, but this was the closest to actual Japanese living that I think most Tuscaloosans would ever have the chance to see.  And then UA decided that it needed to enlarge the football stadium...and that was that.  Now they`ve even gotten rid of the Japan center where Mrs. Seale used to work and teach.  She used to have a book and video library, as well as a kitchen and a room for kimono dressing/tea ceremony (with a tatami floor).  Oh well, at least she`s still around.  AWESOME lady!!!!  She and Michelle (a professional Kimono consultant trained in Japan) are totally nice and cool people. Jaa, here ends the `ah the old times` ramble, heh...  OWARI\おわり
