Woah, wait, the last time I updated was the end of September? Poor show, Bradworth, poor show indeed...
However, I don't really know what I should be writing about, the time just seems to be blurring by, and even though I have done things - I know I have!- I just can't seem to remember any of them right now...
Work has been going well, though there seems to be a lot of stress kicking around our department :/ It's crazy thinking that I'm nearing the end of my internship... Will they offer me a full position? I really have no idea.
My free time has been divided between n64 emulators, drawing pokemans and playing perfect world. None of which I've been all that productive with lately orz
I stopped playing my emulation of banjo-kazooie (for reasons i'll get to in a minute), and instead am replaying ocarina of time. Not exactly a speed run, but not exactly dallying around getting all the pieces of heart/gold skultulas, I've done that before and I'd rather enjoy the experience of playing the actual game. I fell foul of state saves however, and pressed "save" instead of "restore", subscequently deleting my file. However since I can get to the temple of time in about 2 and a half hours it wasn't a huge loss. Plus, one can never watch that cutscene with Darunia dancing too many times.
I've reached horsea in the pokemonathon (116 if you're keeping track) but can't quite be bothered with it. Simple pokemon bother me more than complex ones, as I keep thinkig I need to compensate for the fact that the drawing is easier. I should get that (and seadra >_>) done tonight really, I'm dangling over the precipice of pokeshame, and there are people catching me up D:
Actually I dun think I've played perfect world in a while, I got to lvl 29, and was just running around doing quests... same as always. Good for a diversion, and hey, it's free =D
I had a long weekend last weekend, as I needed to use up my holidays before christmas, so I went home for the weekend. After about 3 months of attempts, I finally managed to get my frinds to go out for sushi. It was rather delicious, though I have to confess the texture of sea bass made me gag >_< most embarassing. Will definately go back there though, the tempura and the skewars looked lovely~
On this same day we went back to my friends house and watched Hamlet. The 4-hour long, Kenneth Branagh production of Hamlet that we watched for our Higher English class. Have to say I enjoyed it just as much, if not more that I remembered, and was surprised at just how well I followed everything. I kept having to fill in the details for Alison, who kept falling asleep. Still, good times were had. I should see if i can find a dvd of it :3
Another product of last weekend was the end of a long road for me. I finally picked up a 360. I haven't got it with me in Stirling, but I signed up for a Live account while I was at home, and if anyone is interested my gamertag is BradworthPI though I won't be on until christmas at least, and my games consist of the ones I got in the bundle lol (or should that be Halol?) I did however get Banjo-Kazooie: nuts and bolts. I'm not about to do a review of it, after all I only got 15 jiggies, but I am going to give my First Impressions, as a fan of the original (and to a lesser extent it's sequel):
I find myself trying so hard to not be cynical of this game. The fact that it is not the same genre as the 2 that went before it is not a bad thing, it is just a different thing. As such, it is much easier to enjoy the game for what it is if you can forget that it's even a banjo game. Shame the game never lets you forget, with levels filled with memoribilia from the first 2 games, remixes of the music, and the exact same cast of googly eyed npcs. All this does is make me remember how great all of these elements were when in their original setting. Now it just feels like I'm the proverbial small child, and Rare is the taller sibling holding what I want over my head, out of reach, and laughing at my attempts to grab it.
The whole thng really does feel to me like Rare are flipping me off, with the hint on the loading screen: "can't get used to the vehicles? Buy the original Banjo-Kazooie on xbox live!" Which I will, but not yet. (When gamestation find my code for a free download that I got for preordering nuts and bolts with them). In short, I'm tring to like it, but I have the sinking feleing it's going to do everything in it's power to make me despise one of the best games from my childhood.
Also while I was home I got to catch up with Erlend for an evening, which cnsisted of finally seeing Pixar's Cars. I enjoyed it muchly, and we watched it upscaled, so not quite HD but close, and the little details it picked out were astounding. I'd place it somewhere around the level of the incredibles in my unofficial ranking of pixar films (where Wall-E is masterful, and Rattatoullie is not a dvd on my "must own" list), so around the top 5 I'd say. I'll get a proper catch up with erlend at christmas though, I miss my giant biker/butcher teddy bear xD
Went to Glasgow today for a wander round with nomi, we went into an art shop where I managed to get a replacement for my Chunky Plastic Twisty Pencil, and also some iridescent blue ink and another caligraphy pen. I'm meant to draw summat for nomi's return later tonight. Oooh also while we were there the guy in front of me dropped a bottle of black ink. As a firm believer in Schadenfreude, I found the subscequent smashing and ink everywhere-ness of it all rather cool. The assisstant's attempt to clean it up with a yellow duster was a little cringeworthy though :/
I also bought the Tales of Beedle the Bard, which I started reading on the train, and finished reading at about half 8. A rather adorable collection of 5 fairytales, written as a sort-of companion to the harry potter books. Totally worth it for Dumbledore's footnotes at the end of each of the tales =D
Bah, I've been sitting writing this thing for almost an hour, not accomplished much have i? :p Oh well, I feel it's as close to an update as we're gonna get for a while~
*vanishes again*
