Storyline: Merlin and Arthur each know the other has feelings for them, but Arthur cannot face up to this as he realises he would be shunned by his father and his people. Gwen has fallen for Arthur too, but she is reluctant to act upon these feelings as she knows that Merlin cannot be without Arthur.
When Arthur finds out that Merlin possesses magic, he is convinced that they can never be together. He abuses Gwen's affection and seduces her, and Merlin is heartbroken. Desperate for Arthur to love him for who he is, he begs forgiveness for lying and offers Arthur all his love.
