Merlin/The Sword in the Stone Plot Bunny
Arthur has just been crowned king and lifted the ban on magic. Merlin is made the court sorcerer/physician allowing Gaius to retire. As a parting gift of sorts Gaius gives Merlin an owl familiar named Archimedes. For Merlin and Archimedes it is love at first sight. For Arthur and Archimedes not so much.
The owl will always play nice when Merlin is around, but when he is not Arthur finds pellets in his boots, owl mess on his clothes, or dents in his armor where Archimedes had picked it up and dropped it on the stone floor.
Arthur keeps telling Merlin that the owl is out to get him, always popping out of the oddest places just to give Arthur the evil eye, but Merlin just laughs it off and tells him he is just being silly.
