poem: As Statues We Fall

Oct 02, 2009 19:47

Liberty stands tall and strong
Roughened by years of brutal exposure
To the bitter driving elements
She never falls, only stumbles
On her journey to triumph

Justice is blind to pleas
Swift as the deadly sword clutched in hand
When she deals out punishment
She only hears truth
And understands nought but facts

Two ladies of honour
And rights for the nation
The stand eternally above rampant seas
And yet more raging crime
Forsaken by their people

America, home of the ladies of liberty and justice,
And New Orleans, teeming with untimely death

Our ladies are finally falling but they cannot be caught
When we are falling with them.
