I should have been shocked when I heard that the Bush administration has released another plan allowing Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana to kill nearly 1,000 wolves.
But I argued our case in Missoula during our last go-around with the administration, and I saw our opponents try to justify their unscientific and reckless proposal to remove gray wolves from the endangered species list.
So I can't say I'm surprised. In fact, I expected more of the same...
...which is why my team and I are already crafting an aggressive legal strategy to halt the administration's latest attack on the gray wolves
So far, our court victories have stopped wolf hunting in the northern Rockies, but only because we could afford to provide the legal services that the wolves -- and many environmental groups -- depend on.
Stripping the wolves of their federal protections would reinstate wolf hunts in Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana.
We need your help to make sure that doesn't happen.
We cannot draw on the same massive resources that the Bush administration has. We're outnumbered, but we've been here before and we've won because of folks like you -- and the smart application of the law that your support makes possible.
I cannot wait for the dark era of the Bush Administration to finally be over with. -MD
