This community is for podfics of stories about the BBC Merlin series. Gen, het, femslash, and slash are all welcome.
All readers are welcome, too. Whatever your accent, and whatever your level of experience, please feel free to join in. If you're interested in recording podfics, but have no idea where to start, check out the resources post
over here.
There are just a few basic posting and tagging rules...
Ask for permission before posting a recording of someone else's work. If you are not the author of the fic you want to read, ask the author's permission. Not everyone wants their stories recorded or they may have other recording plans or whatever. It's just polite to ask. You do not need to state that you've been given permission; I will assume that you have obtained it. But if an author complains, the post will be deleted immediately and you will be given a warning.
If you are an author, you may offer blanket permission to record your work in comments
here, if you wish.
Use the following format for posting. Put the title of the fic and its author in the subject (i.e., the subject line should read: Fic Title by author). For the content, please use the following format:
Title: Fic title, obviously (make it a hyperlink to the text-version of the story)
Author: the author's name/LJ (and/or a pen name, if they prefer it)
Reader: your name/LJ
Pairing: list romantic pairings if applicable, otherwise just say it's gen
Rating: if the author provided a rating with their story, put that here (if they did not provide a rating, you don't have to come up with one, just leave this line out)
Summary: summary or text-teaser
File info: file type (mp3, wav, m4b, etc.), file size, and recording length
Temporary Link: use whatever file sharing service you prefer; Mediafire works best for most people in my experience
Permanent Link: I (
winkingstar) am a volunteer at the [
audiofic archive] and I've got archiving privileges there, so I'll be archiving all the podfics posted here. If, for any reason, you do not want your podfic to be archived, just put a note in your post.
Not required: you can also include a link to leave feedback for the fic author, reader's notes, and/or a note to say where you've cross-posted the podfic.
Tags are required. Every post should have at least three: your reader tag (or new reader, if it's your first time posting), a file tag (for mp3, podbook, etc.), and a genre tag (gen, femslash, het, or slash).
To add tags to an entry, you can click on "Edit this entry's tags" immediately after posting or click on the "edit tags" button with the other editing features at the top of the entry page. Both of these will take you to the tag editing page, where a box with the available tags appears below your entry text. To select multiple tags, hold down the control key while clicking. You can also add the tags manually on the edit entry page, but make sure you are using the exact tags as they appear on the
tag page.
All posts must be on-topic. This is a community for posting Merlin podfic and notices of podfic challenges/fests pertinent to Merlin fandom (please contact the mod for approval before posting a challenge). Anything besides that is off-topic and will be deleted. Do not post questions about podficcing; this is not a resource community. If you have questions about how to podfic, check the
resources post or leave a comment to that post and I will try to help you.
If you would like to request that a certain story be recorded, you may do so in comments
here.
See my post for
Whims for an example of a properly filled out and tagged post.
If you have questions about the community, the rules, or the tags, leave a comment to this entry.
