Pierrefonds - 15 June
Bonsoir! Your correspondent was privileged to be in Pierrefonds for the first day of filming at the Chateau. It was a lovely day, made lovelier by the company of yavannauk. The day began with rain, and was overcast for most of the day - despite which I still managed to get red-faced from too much 'sun'. {sighs}
There is little to report, but I'll tell you anyway. And I didn't take any photos, but I'm sure you'll be happy to know that yavannauk did. The following includes some mild casting and costume spoilers.
It was lovely to see Alice Canty (who used to be AliceMerlin on Twitter) and Dale McCready this morning. Then Colin and the fifth season casting spoiler turned up. Colin was looking lovely, happy and his usual bloomingly healthy self. They disappeared into the Chateau. All the filming today seemed to be centred around the great hall, though it was rather unclear what was going on in there.
Somewhat later, Bradley, Angel, Rupert, and Tomiwa appear - and then Richard as well. The king and knights were dressed in their usual chainmail, while Angel was in an absolutely stunning dress. It was a rich dark red velvet, with golden embroidery. A very flattering low 'neckline', a fitted bodice, and then a long full skirt. She looked absolutely magnificent! She was also accompanied by a young woman who I assume is Gwen's maid.
Also - and I'm sure this won't be of as much interest as The Dress :-) - I think Richard has a new wig. Gaius's hair seemed a bit longer. But it was hard to be sure, as Richard was wearing the usual alice band while going in and out.
Otherwise, there were heaps of knightly extras, but that was about it.
We didn't see any filming taking place, but only saw the cast on the way in and out. And also the lovely crew, of course, just as friendly and full of mischief as ever!
I'll be here until the evening of Monday 25 June, so will try to report on a regular basis throughout. But for now, this happy little vegemite will head off for some saucisse avec moutard - not forgetting avec frittes!
ETA: The saucisses were tres bon! As was the Cafe Liegeois...
ETA2: 5th season guy was wearing boots, trousers and chainmail similar to the knights. But was also dressed in a long modern-day coat so we couldn't see any real details.
ETA3: No sightings of Tom or Eoin today - or not by me. But yavannauk has seen Eoin in the vicinity, and I am sure Tom will make an appearance soon.
ETA4: No sighting of Katie yet, either.
