Speech House Lake revisited

Dec 29, 2012 15:46

This is just a small update re Speech House Lake, as we used a different part of the shoreline for parts of ep 513 The Diamond in the Day.

In the fifth season finale, The Diamond of the Day (Part Two), Speech House Lake again is used for Avalon (along with a number of other locations). We use a different part of the shoreline for when Merlin takes Arthur down to the boat. To visit this place, instead of turning right to go to the familiar rocky shore, keep going straight ahead. You will soon find a grassy area that slopes down to the lake, with a bench on which to sit.

This is my shot on a bleak winter day of where Merlin takes Arthur down to the boat that will take him to the Isle of Avalon. There had been plenty of rain, so you can probably see that the little concrete jetty is under water. You can find a photo of the location on a far sunnier day here (there's a link to click for a larger version of the image). It's available as a greeting card from Caldwell Creations!

The following notice is by the gate leading from the car park... It made me smile, thinking of our heroes hunting wild boar all the way back in episode 201. ♥

Certainly this is good advice!
