Not sure if this is what you're after but:
Gwaine is tired.
His whole body aches - even his hair - and his thoughts are fuzzy and slow and everything takes too much effort. He manages to make it to his room, cursing Arthur and training and everything else.
He manages to remove his boots, but he can't fathom out his chain mail and is staring at it aimlessly when Merlin walks through the door. Merlin clucks and walks over to him, shaking his head. A kiss is placed on Gwaine's forehead and he blindly leans forward, pressing his lips against Merlin's.
“Let's get you out of this, shall we?”
His limbs are tugged this way and that, Merlin's deft fingers sweeping over his skin efficiently. A salve that smells faintly of pine is rubbed over his many and varied bruises. Gwaine closes his eyes and lets himself drift.
“Come on, lie down.” Gwaine gratefully crawls under the covers, sighing as the cool sheets caress his aching limbs.
“I hope you realise that once you're coherent again I'm going to have words with you about this ridiculous one-upmanship you have with Arthur.”
“Mmph. Stay.” Gwaine mumbles, hand reaching out for Merlin. Merlin catches it, places a kiss on the knuckles.
(I will not mod-thwap you for not putting a rating AHAHAHA *hugs*)
THIS IS AWESOME. YES, this, exactly this. I like picturing Gwaine and Arthur trying to one-up each other in training (it reminds me of the scene after they escaped the slavetrader and they're all I'm brilliant!, No, I am!, and Merlin's all You're both idiots. :D )
