I love waking up to gorgeous posts about Gwaiiine. <3 First of all, I had no idea that Gwaine's necklace belongs to Eoin! Where did he say that? Was it on an interview somewhere? This is so lovely and exciting (yes, I'm very enthusiastic over these tidbits

I had no idea that Gwaine's necklace belongs to Eoin!
I saw someone else mention it so I went in search of more info. I didn't turn up an interview or anything, but the necklace shows up in a lot of his modeling photos (minus the ring, as far as I could tell), so I'm guessing it's his. :)
I really want Gwaine to be nonchalant about magic which looks the case here?
Yes! He does seem very matter-of-fact about it. There's no hint of judgment or censure, just a, 'Oh, yeah, I've seen blades like that before' and 'Ah, wyverns. Distant cousins to the dragon'. I've seen people say that he's being used as exposition boy by TPTB, and I suppose that's possible and that that's all there is to it, but I like to think that there's more to the story; that there's something in his background that makes him a logical choice for magical exposition boy. :D
I don't think it'll bother me if Gwaine has a lady in the future or if he even had one in the past AS LONG AS he remains close to Merlin. It's all about the friendship.Same here, as far as

Oh, it's in Eoin's modeling pictures! I SEE MY MISTAKE. I haven't been browsing through enough Eoin hotness pictures. I shall remedy that ASAP.

I love the matter of factness! I think it's also adding to what others were saying, Gwaine comes with no baggage. He's just his own lonesome, worldly (and wary), but free. And this is just so attractive for Merlin (and me omg) right now. I think yes! Either someone close to him is magic, or that he's had close experiences with it? How on earth does one know that wyverns are kin to the dragon D: Gwaine, ILU. <3333
I'm liking the modeling pictures I've come across. And I saw that he's represented by Morgan the Agency (http://www.morgantheagency.com/portfolio.php?id=38), an Irish modeling agency. 'Morgan' - cute coincidence. :)
Either someone close to him is magic, or that he's had close experiences with it?
His knowledge about the Perilous Lands really made me wonder. I hope that wasn't just a throwaway line to serve as nothing more than exposition! It'll be kind of disappointing if, after these little hints as to who he is and what he's done, it just kind of fizzles. (But then, they have kept me waiting for more backstory on Sir Leon; makes me wish I'd gone ahead and wrote my Sir Leon story. I put it off because I felt sure TPTB would joss it before I could finish, but I would have had time.)
I have issues with A/G because TPTB are forcefully dampening the M/A (IMO), and to me, I just don't really like it.I'm torn on this one. On the one hand, I realize

Ahh I didn't make them so its really not my place to make that post :) Just stumbled across those today and thought I'd share the link. Can't seem to find others (and there are a lot) that I've found too. I'm pants at bookmarking goodies. Le sigh.
Clearly, I'm not looking in the right places! Confession: The other day, I was checking the icons listed in the newsletter, but after a half dozen clicks with no Gwaine ones, I got lazy and gave up. *sheepish*
Same here; I haven't seen a pic with the ring, but like you, I kind of lean towards thinking it's his own. I just think it would be kind of cool if the writers worked his jewelry into the character's backstory. :) Similarly, on Supernatural, the ring that the character Dean wore (wears? I haven't been keeping up with that show) was actually Jensen Ackles' own ring. As best as I remember, though, they never explained Dean's ring in canon.
I can't get a handle at all on how old Gwaine is supposed to be. To me, one minute he seems very young (getting drunk and brawling in taverns!) and the next, he seems older than both Arthur and Merlin (experienced in a way that's made him world weary and a bit cynical). They really have set up an interesting character, here - it's no wonder he's gotten our interest.
he doesn't seem like a big fan of Uther in general
Ha ha, I love his outspokenness about that, too (right in front of Uther's son, lol). He strikes me as the type who would be all, 'Yay! Magic!' just

I'm usually a bit hesitant to embrace new characters - I tend to like my original cast members best - but this is one time that I just fell in love with a new character from, well, from the moment he said, "You two have got yourselves in a bit of a pickle, haven't you?" *g*
By contrast, I love the Lancelot of legend and I think Santiago is yummy, so after his first appearance I certainly wasn't averse to seeing more of him, but it wasn't like, my #1 wish either. The situation is different now, though, I think. When Lancelot first appeared, Merlin was getting to know Arthur and their whole growing relationship was front and center, but now, Merlin really needs a friend (I've been feeling that lack for a while) and then Gwaine comes along... Perfect. :)
Yeah, it's the same with me, usually I prefer the original cast members but there's just something about Gwaine I couldn't resist <3 Merlin was in a serious need of a friend, someone who actually listens to him and is kind to him - I mean, of course Arthur likes Merlin, but he just can't show it and settles to shouting and throwing things at him. (Actually I wonder why Merlin and Gwen don't hang around together more often, since they seem to get along great. Maybe they just don't have the time.)
I too like the Lancelot of legend and Santiago is definitely great, but I feel that I haven't really gotten a grip of the character, if you know what I mean. But Gwaine, he's a PERSONALITY and oh do I love that.
actually, as much as I love Gwaine, I hate how his kindness and that caring attitude towards Merlin is making me feel about Arthur. the more I see Gwaine acting like a proper friend should, the more I'm starting to see how much Arthur lacks that way. he just doesn't seem to have a clue what an amazing friend he has and what Merlin would be willing to do for him, which Gwaine appears to have already realized and fully appreciate. it's infuriating, argh!
