I hope that if Gwaine becomes a permanent feature of Camelot (yesyesyesplease?), Merlin'll still be his main man.
You've just hit on my fondest wish! Let him be a knight, let him become friends with Arthur, Leon, Lancelot, Elyan, Percival, but PLEASE let him always have something special with Merlin. I'm just afraid that it's going to depend on who writes the episodes he appears in. 3x04 and 3x08 were written by Julian Jones, I think? But 3x12 was by Jake Michie and I didn't 'feel' the M/Gwa connection quite as strongly as in the two previous Gwaine eps (it was there, of course, just not as in-my-face, I thought.) BUT! Julian Jones is the writer for 3x13 so I'm hoping that he's a bit of a M/Gwa fanboy and their interaction will be the campfire scene kind of awesome. :)
If Julian Jones doesn't forget Merlin/Gwaine in the quest for epicness, I WILL BE HAPPY. I am so scared that he'll just separate Merlin for most of the episode.
I WANT ANOTHER CAMPFIRE SCENE. If possible, they should give us a campfire scene every season :D Just Merlin/Gwaine roasting marshmellows, making out, etc... *_____*

Sadly, I think you're probably right. :( It's probably not good for me to think too much about what I hope happens so that I won't be disappointed when it doesn't, but what I want is for Gwaine to find out about Merlin's magic (or let him know that he already knows) and to sneak off after Merlin when Merlin goes off to do his thing. But who am I kidding? I'd be THRILLED if Gwaine just gave him another hug before Merlin goes. :D
'MERLIN, BE SAFE' *TACKLE MANLY FONDLY STROKEY HUG* And then Gwaine doesn't let go and keeps on stroking/fondling Merlin, and Merlin's like "Ehm, Gwaine, I think this is getting inappropriate for an audience, and we need to leave now..." and all the knights pretending they're looking away but they're actually sneaking peeks.
My dream for the next episode is Gwaine knowing about Merlin's magic and talking with Merlin about it, and then Merlin brings Gwaine along to the lake and Gwaine meets Freya and he's all "Hmmm, so this is Merlin's ex" in his mind. Hahahahahaha. :p
But 3x12 was by Jake Michie and I didn't 'feel' the M/Gwa connection quite as strongly as in the two previous Gwaine eps (it was there, of course, just not as in-my-face, I thought.) I felt this way too. :( I didn't realize there was a pattern with the writers, thanks for pointing that out. :) So it's good that Julian wrote the last, but with everything and everyone that's going on in the last ep I don't expect they'll give Gwaine much main airtime. I suspect they'll just stick him in the background to complete the scenery. :-/
THANK waltzing_mice for her lovely artwork. SHE IS AMAZING <3
I love that Gwaine is willing to risk his life for Merlin, and yeah... just it's sweet to see that. Merlin's loneliness bothers him, but OMFG, it bothers ME, THE VIEWER, that he's been so alone for so long...
That speech in 3x10 nearly broke me...
It's...lonely...to be the most powerful man you know, but have to live like a shadow...to pretend to be less than who you are
GUH GUH. LIKE THIS MADE ME JUST SO SO SAD, and very...ugh. Yes, I cried.
I hope that if Gwaine becomes a permanent feature of Camelot (yesyesyesplease?), Merlin'll still be his main man. I think Gwaine has a lovely streak of loyalty that'll keep this relationship burning a long time! ^___^ (thanks, Mel, for being always so awesome with quotes)
I'm so with you, so so so with you. I really want their bond to last forever. Loyalty for Arthur, but genuine love and fondness for Merlin. I REALLY want that from Gwaine.
That speech in 3x10 was killer. Merlin, you break my heart. I really liked that episode because it finally addressed some of Merlin's issues (and Arthur's).
