SO MUCH SO. Oh, man.

I was sort of well-known in high school for talking constantly and only rarely making any sense whatsoever except to the people that I was friends with (who were on the same page as I was) and people that I knew pretty well. My high school was actually really high up there in "ridiculously good educations," so it's not as frightening as it seems, honestly. (And it was a public school in a small town. We've been referred to as the twilight zone, once or twice or a zillion times.)

Ooooooh. Look up J.L. Austin "How to Do Things With Words." Excellent. His manner of describing things is a little dense, and it might take some slow, concise reading, but it's so much fun. Oh, man. (If you can't find it, I can, erm, oh-so-legally-obtain-it, haha. ♥)

(I think I've been referred to as "shy" once in my life and I had the flu at the time. My dad laughed hysterically for about an hour. They thought he was overdoing it a little. He probably was not. I used to walk up to perfect strangers, when I was 2-3 or so, and introduce myself with my full name, my address, and my phone number. My dad was always afraid we'd get robbed or I'd get kidnapped.)

Haha ♥

Ah! I looked him up (I thought you were talking about a Peter Austin in linguistics) and I believe I'd read a bit by Austin by proxy, through Searle's own similar thoughts. So I will definitely be looking him up soon, and I'm excited - it looks to be a similar collection of lectures like the one Searle gave while he was at Harvard. And ha! no need for oh-so-legally-obtaining-it, I'm sure I can find a copy at my univ. library next week.

[LOL oh wow. Hilarious but so dangerous :D]

Austin is sort of rockin'. ♥ Personally, I'm also a fan of Italo Calvino's theory, though it's not necessarily linguistic theory (though it is linguistic aesthetic theory), and from what I've read of Julia Kristeva, her feminist linguistic theory is fascinating. Oh, man. I love new theorists. ♥

(Yes, so much, oh man. How I'm still alive, sometimes, I have no idea. But, well, not being shy is awfully handy in being an advocate and public speaker, haha.)

Hahaha you're opening my eyes! Okay, I'm adding both of them to my reading list. Any feminist is GOOD BY ME ♥

And you're an advocate/public speaker? How awesome ♥ although that makes sense, lol.

8D Well, I'd be happy to give you my Critical Theory reading list, haha. ♥ It was definitely a fun class (I only say "was" because I have one week of class left before finals, and I must say: aaaaaaaaaaah! and also, my final is at 07:30, which is just cruel).

Well, technically, I will be an advocate/public speaker, but I certainly get plenty of practice now, too. ♥ I am giving a presentation on the state of the Des Moines foster care system as evidenced by the opinion and interaction of those who experience it on a daily basis in a week, actually, which is fairly frightening. Egads! I'm a child advocate, really; or, again, will be. I'll be attending law school next year.

LOL I'd love to see the Critical Theory reading list :D Won't be able to read anything until after I've submitted all my papers, so take your time with it! & thanks ♥

Good luck on your finals :O And UGH early morning finals suck so bad.

And good luck on your presentation! Child advocacy is wonderful and it's great that you're shedding some light on the foster care system ♥

Okay! He keeps changing it, so I'll get it to you once the semester's up and he's MADE UP HIS DAMN MIND and can't change it any more, haha!

Well, I love it and it's important to me, so it's sort of like, "DO THIS OR BE A DUMBASS WHO DOESN'T DO ANYTHING" because I'm really very unmotivated when it comes to, ah, everything else ever. Oops?
