-Lord of the Rings (music seems heavily inspired by it; the cinematography of the scenes from 2x11 with the knights of medhir riding resemble the 'riding across New Zealand' scenes; battle of Helm's Deep [and even lines about Camelot as an impenetrable fortress] in 3x02)

-Harry Potter (goblin = Dobby; Merlin riding a hippogriff dragon; Merlin catches the snitch goblin with his mouth; labyrinth = triwizard maze complete with vines that reach out and tie you up; plus John Hurt)

I pretty much agree with all of your well-thought-out :) parallel points, but these two stand out for me particularly because I had these exact same thoughts while watching the first couple of episodes of S3.

Camelot under seige = Helm's Deep - no question. I may have remarked something about elves and dwarfs at the time - hehe.

Goblin = Dobby lol I actually said this to my partner when we watched 3x03 :) And recently re-watching 1x11, I was struck by the parallels between the Labrynth of Gedref and the maze in the HP Triwizard competition. I'm not from the UK so I'm wonder if this 'maze' structure actually exists somewhere and people use it from time to time for films and whatnot...

I love that you put so much thought into this, bb! :)

lol Can you tell that I have no life right now?

I saw a lot of people poking fun at the similarities, but they really are quite blatant! I sometimes wonder if the writers just marathon their favourite movies when they get stuck for ideas ;)

And I'm utterly convinced that the special effects team looks to the Harry Potter movies for all of its prototypes lol
