Hello! I'm looking for Merlin/Arthur fics that you love and think are brilliant but that aren't considered the 'fandom staples' or don't often get recced or suggested here because i think i've probably already read the majority of those. So, yeah, bascially just your favourite under-appreciated fics please

Some of the brilliant fic there don't get recced enough though, so I'm including them in my rec list:
2. Novelettes (Part I)
something more than this desperation by my_maverick via camelotsolstice
I have a bias for Merlin + modern technology. Partly because I'm attempting to write a fic in this genre, but also because Colin Morgan makes Merlin look like a geek. Whether deliberately or not, I guess this will remain a mystery.
Seven Magpies by syllic*** @ camelotsolstice
This is, I think, the latest of syllic's merlin fics, so it may not have made the rec list circuit yet. I doubt it will remain un-recced to the high heavens for long, though. Still, there are several more fics in camelotsolstice of this calibre, so I thought it best to give you a heads-up and leave no stone unturned in their master list of fics.
Everything's got a moral, if only you can find it by j_apollo
Merlin as Alice in a Sort-of-Wonderland. Sweet, and profound in unexpected ways.
Under the Wild Oak by anowlinsunshine via reel_merlin
Based on The Fountain, which is a movie I would call cerebral, and personally, made my heart ache (in a good, healthy way). You can tell, from reading this fic, that the author took great pains to make a worthy adaptation of the film and its many, complex themes.
this fast, unreasonable spring by i_claudia***
I believe this was posted at merlinxarthur in the past month, so you might have read it already. Still, it deserves to be recced because Lancelot is kick-ass here.
Even the Best of Friends by rah-rah-ramen***
I personally like a lot of this author's fics, especially that one reincarnation fic that's a really lovely read. She writes Merlin and Arthur with these particular old-young voices that give you a hint of something larger-than-life despite being presented as ordinary people, as you will encounter them in most of her fics.
Ariel by kathkin***
Merlin is a djinn-like creature enslaved by the Pendragons. This fic is so good but totally under-recced. It's also quite difficult to track down the author's fics, so I've got another of her works in my rec list.
Three Castles by rageprufrock
"Drastically Redefining Protocol" may be one of the landmark fics of the fandom, but "Three Castles" holds its own charm.
A Mile in Someone Else's Shoes, or How Merlin Got His Groove Back by zempasuchil
An excellent body-swap fic!
Am prionnsa, an t-amadan agus na meirlich by aithris
I like how Arthur finds out about Merlin's magic in this particular fic because of how Arthur sort of "keeps it real" in his reactions, and how Merlin puts them in unnecessary danger by being his lovable idiot self.
