Okay y'all, I've been searching a while for this one. It was a WIP last I saw it, but that was honestly like a year or more ago.
The title and description for this fic was incredibly deceiving, like, something about "arthur and merlin have an argument and then they get captured and will arthur ever be able to tell merlin he's sorry." But, I believe that was basically just the first half of the first chapter. The story continued that arthur and merlin got captured, they found out merlin had magic and put him in a collar (restrict magic use and punished if he made sound, so no speaking), and they planned to send him to the mines and take arthur back to the enemy kingdom.
One of the bad guys decides to help merlin stay by arthur's side, so merlin ends up as a slave in this enemy kingdom. There's lots of snow and it's too far and treacherous for merlin and arthur to just run away to camelot. I remember that merlin would serve arthur, and i think the king wanted arthur to live in this kingdom and marry his daughter? Merlin would "talk" to arthur by writing on his hand. There was even a part where merlin asked arthur to kick someone's butt in training because they were hurting merlin.
Anyways, it had good hits of angst and I always wondered if it ever had any updates. Sorry for the long rambly description 😅 🙈
