Please help me find this!! Rated teen, but does contain a few smutty scenes. This takes place in a sci-fic but also fantasy esc world I found it on ao3. Prince merlin is soon going to come of age and his magic is going to manifest, this ceremony is called the burning, and it’s essential that they have a dragon shifter bondmate to absorb that energy or else their magic will burn them up inside. So, regardless of a feud between families, king Uther’s son and king Balinor’s son are to be bonded to ensure that merlin has a chance of survival. He displayed signs that he is going to have incredible magic, and he’s going to need a powerful shifter to be able to absorb that energy.
