Arthur seeks Alice out to cure Merlin (specific fanfic)
All I remember of the plot is that somewhere along the line, Merlin either got cursed or severely injured. Gaius suggested Arthur find Alice, told him she was a healer with remarkable talents and that she is Merlin's' only chance at survival. Arthur and Lancelot? or maybe Gwaine, I'm not sure, goes to a tavern looking for information on Alice. Don't remember how they ultimately found her but they convinced her to come back to help Merlin. Later on in the story a battle happened, Merlin got up and helped despite his injury, asking Gaius for a painkiller potion to keep him going. They won in the end and was celebrating, Merlin slips away to a quiet closet or small room because he couldn't hold on any longer.
There could have been some kind of beast involved, and Merlin might have been a Court Sorcerer as well. Arthur definitely knew about his magic. But I could just be mixing different stories together.
