specific magic reveal goes badly fic (found)
arthur tells merlin that he never wants to see him again and merlin's magic translates that into making him literally invisible. so over the years merlin is there but arthur can't see him at first, then can only see him as he was when they first met. also, merlin spends most of his time in one of the castle's abandoned towers? maybe?
eventually they get, well, old, and arthur abdicates and moves to the country and merlin goes with him. in the very last scene, he finally gets merlin to stop being invisible/looking the wrong age. and they're old, yeah, but still just a couple of dudes in love, after everything is said and done.
