Music Hoarder

I am a music hoarder. I wouldn't say that I want to collect music, I would say I want all the music in the world just in case I need it one day. So bizarre. I'm normally the anti-clutter girl but I have a problem with music (and dd's baby clothes and toys but that's another post). I don't think I respect the idea of digital music. It's not taking up any of my physical space so why not keep it unless you hate it? It feels wrong to just delete music, like throwing out a live plant. I can't do it.

And this is becoming a problem. I have recently been given a large volume of music from my friend. And with this, I will max out my iPod. I will have to choose which music is going to make it onto the iPod which means rejection to some. I still feel guilty about telling a little girl I wouldn't be her friend when she asked me back in first grade (To this day, I think this is about the worst thing I have ever done.)

But how do you choose? I have the Rolling Stone Magazine's top 500 songs of all time. What a playlist this is, but it's really only good for a road trip. You can't just listen to this very often, it's too much. "Free Bird" and "Spirit in the Sky" just isn't something I can handle on a regular basis. However, it has too all be on my iPod. The joy of roadtrips are how spontaneous they are. When one comes up, you have to just go and quickly. There is no waiting around uploading a playlist because you need The Rolling Stones and Weezer. That would ruin the whole thing.

music, just me
