reverse auction house?
Here's something I would love to see in WoW, or really any MMO I play - the ability to place orders on the auction house.
A player needs, say, five Bronze Swords. There aren't any on the auction house at the moment (or they're all in batches of 3, for some reason, and he doesn't want any extra)...so he chooses the item, the quantity, and the price he is willing to pay.
He puts that money into the AH (auction house) with the order, and it stays there for, say, a week.
A crafter walks by and checks the request listings. He sees the order for 5 Bronze Swords and thinks that the price looks pretty good - so he crafts the swords and places them to fill the order. The swords get mailed to the request-er, the money gets mailed to the request-ee, and all's good!
Doesn't that sound like it would be a nice resource to have? There are lots of items that people can make and OTHER people need, but don't often get put on the Auction House. This would solve that neatly.
