Well, it's been a while, I have nothing to do at work (nothing new there) so I might as well write an entry and babble you to death, while I try to control my sneezing. Luckily I didn't catch a flu as I first assumed, only a stupid cold with lots of sneezing and coughing. Probably due to the shit weather we have here at the moment. It's all cold and wet and windy, like a proper german autumn should be. Bah.
I went to a small movie and comic convention last Sunday with Ingo and Michi, one of our friends. There wasn't much interesting stuff there, though they had David Faustino and some german erotic star as special guests. Haha, I wonder what David thought of signing autographs two tables from a 40 year old who had a... well, not very sexy cleavage. They also had a small Alien exhibition, with some really lovely looking figures. I didn't buy anything there and of course they didn't have Doctor Who stuff, but it was a nice way to waste a few hours. And it's always quite, eh, funny to watch the anime and Star Wars geeks in their costumes. Of course some a really good, but there were some who looked rather wacky. (Please guys, never wear a blonde wig over black hair without putting your hair in a net or something. It looks just silly and bad!)
Also, Ingo has new specs (specs!squeeee), which look really good on him. They are more angular than his old ones and he looks almost Doctor-ish with them, although they are more transparent than the Doctors. I really love them, although he has some problems getting used to the new glasses, so he'll be wearing his old ones in London, because he couldn't really enjoy it with his new ones yet. (wow, that's a long sentence)
Warning, there's a spoiler for the first season finale of Stargate Atlantis coming up:
We've been watching Stargate Atlantis recently, we just finished the first season and OMG, that one guy Dr. Peter Grodin died in a way so similar to Adric that it's not even funny. And he was likeably! Why do they kill the likeable characters? That's really not nice. *tut*
We'll continue watching Stargate for now, because Ingo is to lazy to watch the third season of 4400 in english, or, as he puts it, it's too exhausting. I'll just have to keep bugging him, because I want to know what happens next and I want to see more of the adorable geek love between Diana and Marco (which actually reminds me of Ingo and me XD), but it would be unfair and against our unspoken TV show watching rules if I watched it before he does. So I'll just keep bugging him. YOU WILL O-BEY! I'll just watch Doctor Who instead. He doesn't care about the classic series, so I'll keep myself busy with that. (He didn't like City of Death, hard to believe but true) Or I'll watch V for Vendetta. For the bazillionst time. I can't get tired of that movie.
On Tuesday we had a bank holiday here, the German Unification Day (not that anyone cares) and I used the free day to book a
tour through the BBC television centre for next wednesday. I had to phone three times because they needed my hotel phone number and a credit card number (I don't have one, so I had to call Ingo). And then I totally screwed up because I noted the number down in Excel, and Excel changed the last digit, so the computer of the nice and very patient BBC lady didn't accept it and I had to call my boyfriend again to get the correct number and argh. (Note to self: Always write long number down on paper. Excel sucks with them) But in the end it all worked out and now I'm really looking forward to going through the TV centre - maybe I'll see something Torchwood or Doctor Who related! I think I would die if I saw a Dalek!
So, tonight I'll meet up with Ingo and his sister Andrea, who's coming to London with us, to plan the whole thing a bit and talk about what we want to see. (Who shop! Tardis at Earl's Court!)
And now, to finish this whole thing up, a bit of plugging:
First of, visit
where you can make Aric watch what you want by poll and he comments on it. Read his DW reviews, they are hilarious, and vote for DW on the Friday polls.
And then, if you haven't yet, check out
the great Doctor Who recaps on
Television without pity. There's some really deep stuff in there and they make me appreciate this wonderful show even more. Highly recommendable!
And I almost forgot it, Torchwood is coming, which I have to squee at randomly. There's supposed to be a
press release today, hopefully together with a
website update. I need new Captain Jack input to fangirl about!
