Doctor Who - the Weeping angels

I'm enjoying the new Doctor Who. I really wasn't sure that I would, but there it is.

Of course I miss the David Tennant Doctor Who. But then, I also still miss Rose (being my 'first companion', when I started watching Who, she'll always be the ideal for me), and I was still able to enjoy watching after she got trapped in the alternative universe.

So yeah, Doctor Who is good. I thought the first episode was a great start to the new season, but I wasn't entirely sure about the Churchill episode (not bad, but the funky pop art Daleks didn't really work for me). Now that a larger story arch is uncovered I am totally hooked, though. Of course the weeping angels are fantastic in all their creepy glory (by far the scariest Doctor Who enemies), but I was also surprisingly intrigued by the River storyline. When we first encountered her during the library episode I didn't like her, and being a Doctor/Rose kind of gal I also felt quite protective. I still don't like her much (she is a strange character), but the relationship interests me more. Somehow I don't think they are married. It's too obvious, even more so because the Doctor is starting to believe it. I think there is some reason he has to believe that they are married, but the truth is something different - possibly equally simple, but not what we think it is.

Of course it is entirely possible that I am wrong and she is simply the missus...

I like the new Doctor more. Now that we are a few episodes in he has had some time to put his mark on the role and to establish the new Doctor personality. He is similar to Ten, yet also very different. Equally manic, but less brooding, easier, somehow, but also quicker to anger. Interesting, and a promising start. I'm looking forward to seeing more. I like Amy too, although I don't have much to say about her at this point.

And then there is the larger story arch with the whole mess-up with time. Soooo intriguing! And somehow Amy and her upcoming nuptials are tied up with all of it. I'm looking forward to next Saturday.
