I really don't have all that much to say. I just decided to update because it seemed to be the thing to do. I played tennis today which is very exciting. I feel bad for our coach because there is no one good on the team. There is no one who she can just rely on to keep it in the court, which is very sad. We are going to get our asses handed to us consistently. Against Cedar Ridge- ass-kicking. Against East Chapel Hill- we will have no ass left and for those of you who know me that is a lot of ass to get rid of. It will be okay because this is a rebuilding year, very, very much so.
If I didn't have practice I could have gone to a Durham Bulls baseball game, but I am glad I went to tennis. I needed it and I have to wake up at 5 tomorrow morning. Why, you ask? Because my travelling softball team has a tournament in Statesville which is about an hour and a half away and we need to get there an hour early so we can warm up and our game is at nine. We plan to leave at six. I hate waking up early it makes you fatigued earlier in the day and we, normally, play all day. It will be okay, because I have done it before. One tournament we had to wake up at 4, that sucked ass. I feel bad for my mom because she thinks that she has a duty to drive and be there. I don't think she does and she can't possibly enjoy it, but I can't stop her.
There is an event I haven't told you (all of you) about. There is this thing called Athena's Train (Very cool name). It is an all female acting group that does Shakespeare. I am not a part of it because of my tumultuous schedule, but Kelly (my sister) is. The reason I care is because on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday they practiced at our house. They do not normally practice at someone's home but they could not find a place to practice or perform. This was a slight problem. Kelly and Mae (the director) had been searching for a place for a very long time, while the producer (who is supposed to do it) works from 8-5 and can not drive (she is 15), therefore she is not exactly the best candidate to find a venue. They finally found a place to practice thanks to Kelly's connections...which means Gordon, her boyfriend. He works at Duke School which is where they are practicing. Most of the girls are fairly cool people and they are fun to be around, even if I was a "distraction" (do not take this in a bad way, please) because I didn't have to learn any lines. They are doing the play "As You Like It" which is generally funny as soon as you get used to the Shakespearean words and terms. There was this one girl who was not fun to be around at all, I didn't like her much. Neither did anyone else except for the one person who was already her very close friend. She was difficult. It will be okay because she is not in my house anymore.
The actual reason I brought that up was, besides the fact they lived in my house from 9-4 for three days, that I would do techie work if I do not have a tournament next weekend. I am not exactly sure what this entails, but I would do it to help and I now know all but two or three of the girls who will be participating. I get to go to dress rehearsal and learn what I am doing and then do it. It is great ;D.
If anyone who is reading this journal is interested and lives within a thirty minute drive from Durham, let me know I may be able to get you in, if you can learn a play in a week. You wouldn't have many lines or you would do techie work, but they need some more people. It would be a fairly cool experience and you would be with a fairly cool group of people (minus that one, her friend isn't all bad). Fairly cool is the adjective to describe this. The director is a fairly cool person and no one is horrible. You have to be a female, but if you are a male you can watch when they perform. If you know of anyone interested or you are interested yourself reply and you can tell me your name (if I don't know it already) and I will give you my e-mail address so we can correspond easier. The performance dates are the 6&7 of August at a time that I will tell you later (I don't know right yet) practices are from 9-4 on weekdays at Duke School, I can give you directions. If you are interested, reply and I will help you. I decided to make a plea because they needed people. I hope some one can help.
That took a lot more space than previously determined. Oh well. I am signing off now.
