I am utterly shocked!!! Completely and utterly floored!!! Why? Let me explain...
As I said in a
recent post, I have never watched a full season of American Idol until this season. The total amount of episodes I saw before this season was about 2 (and this was only in the past couple of years).
Most of my life with shows like this I am dis-heartened because it quickly becomes a popularity contest instead of staying a talent show and I feel the most talented contestant is thrown out for the popular one. This did not happen in the past few weeks. Basically who I thought should leave, left either that week or the following week. What I'm saying is that a little bit of my hope in the attentiveness of the general American public has been redeemed... at least as far as this show goes.
David Cook.
At the beginning of the season I thought he was good but didn't see him making it this far. Then he did something EVERY American Idol finalist should do... he figured out the game and has been totally awesome to watch the past month or so. He takes the time to find good arrangements. His choice of songs has been spot on for the past six weeks. He discovered the type of artist he is a couple months ago and has been exemplary in bringing this to the stage every week. His voice is as strong as David Archuletta's. Since Michael Johns left, he is the strongest performer by far. Every week he is consistently bringing his best to millions of viewers and this is why I can see him win this season (or at least be one of the top two). I keep trying to find a weakness with every one of his song choices, performances etc. For the past six weeks I have been unable to do so.
For those of you who watched this season, I would love to know your thoughts.
Will I watch next season? Probably not. I will most likely pop in for a couple episodes here and there but that will be it. I wanted to have an American Idol experience to know what all the fuss was about. I have had it and I am good.
The End
