Don't you love it when technology finally catches that your expectations. A few years ago I tried one of AOL's speech to text programs and it really sucked. But lately I've been having a lot of carpal tunnel syndrome and it's been causing a lot of pain even typing half a paragraph.with AOL's text-to-speech program I was very disappointed. I mean really!!! I mean at best it probably got about 30% accuracy. But I still really wanted a speech to text program. So I did my research and a few days ago I purchased Dragon Naturally Speaking version 8. I was hoping that this program would actually do a lot better than AOL's program. Everything that I had read about it said that it was much better. the program even advertises it as being 99% accurate.
What I found out so far is that yeah it's a pretty good program. the most annoying things are trying to install it and train it. After about the first half hour or so it was doing pretty good with my voice. And now about a day later it's doing really really well. And yes I am using it to write this post. Normally at this point my hands would be hurting really really bad and I would have to stop and cut it off right here. But it's only taken about 3 minutes to do what normally would've taken me close to 10. So yeah I'm really enjoying it.
Oh and did I mention the best part... I got it for a really good price. If you're looking for a speech to text program this is definitely the one to buy.
This is me very very pleased! :-)
Edit: As you can see it's still not perfect but it's so much better than I expected it to be. I've had to edit this entry very little.
