Taking a flying leap onto the bandwagon *lol*
I have cracked...and decided to do the "In Great Detail" Meme..however, I probably won't do it every day...just when I remember it *lol*
Day 01 - Introduce yourself
My name is Kathleen. I was born October, 22, 1978. I was supposed to be born sometime in December, but I made my appearance 7 weeks early. I gave my parents quite a scare and spent the first 7 weeks of my life in an incubator at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa. I am the eldest of 3 girls. My sisters are Jennifer (30) and Kelly (21) and we are all very, very different.
I think I am a perfectionist. If I don't think I'll be able to do something well, then chances are I won't do it. I hate doing half-assed jobs and I get very frustrated if something doesn't come together easily. I am very musically inclined and my grandma taught me to read music when I was 5 and I've been playing some sort of musical instrument ever since. I have played the recorder, the clarinet, the flute, the piccolo, the piano, tried the oboe and the bassoon, the cello and the viola. I have been trying to teach myself guitar, but as per my self-professed perfectionism, it's not going well and I've gotten frustrated and stopped *lol*
I love to read and learn and as such, I find that I'm on a non-fiction kick lately. I've been reading books dealing with a wide variety of subjects and I'm currently working on 3 books: The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin, Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi and Wednesday's Child by Peter Robinson. Ok, so that last one is fiction. In keeping with learning and my academic interests, I have joined an online Latin Study group and last night I submitted my first assignment. We are currently working through Wheelock's Latin. I know, I'm a dork. :D
That's the other thing..I'm a geek and I know it. I totally embrace my geekiness. I love Ancient Greek and Latin, Star Trek, evolutionary theories and discoveries of new human species. I am fascinated by scientific discoveries and I love reading about what's been found on distant planets or what new fossil has just been unearthed.
I am a pack rat and will keep things for years, just in case I need them at some point. I am slowly trying to declutter my life and my apartment but it's a very slow slog.
I love to cook. It is absolutely my passion. It is my therapy, my creative outlet, my stress relief and the one thing that I am absolutely arrogant about. I am good, I know it and I will not hesitate to tell you how good I am. *lol*
I am an avid Ottawa Senators fan and I have been a half-season ticket holder since 2007-08. I split the tickets with my friends and it means that I get to see at least 11 games a season. I love watching sports but I am too much of a girl to really participate.
