Schools!

it just hit me today: Next year i'm definitely going to be at an amazing school that I love. Which one? well, i couldn't say right now, but i am so excited for next year. I'm just waiting to hear from Eastman. they are pissing me off, i just want to whole process to be over with. but that's alright. i'm already into two of my other top schools (oberlin and New England), so, while it would be very disapointing to not get in, it wouldn't be the end of the world. I am having such a hard time choosing schools though. Today I pretty much took Northwestern off the table though. I called Brunssen, and she said that teacher assignments aren't officially announced until august (aka after you decide to go there) and the biggest reason that Northwestern was still an option was because i really wanted to work with Brunssen. As it is, I'm not willing to take the gamble that i would get into her studio, especially because she has only TWO open spots, and she hasn't actually met me, and the last time she heard me sing was 2 years ago. Plus, I'm not about to make my mom spend the extra money to go down to Northwestern AGAIN to take a lesson with her. After all the traveling for auditions, its completely out of the question to travel to school again at this point. I'm sort of glad it's off the table though. I really needed to start making decisions. I feel a bit relieved that i've actually gotten something done. Also, i'm thinking no on Michigan, just cuz i really want to go out of state, and no on Boston, just cuz #1: they don't have a really great performance space and #2: their over all philosophy seemed a little too mushy for me. They seemed a bit too into the whole tortured artist "tempering the craft" crap for my taste. After all, I do want to come out of this whole music school thing a SOMEWHAT normal person. anyways, while incredibly overwhelming, i'm pretty excited to finally make my decision. just have to hear from eastman. grrrrrrr. well whatever, i'm sure i'll hear soon enough. cross ur fingers!
