To watch and want to
stop watching!
is a curse.
I am unable to
stop watching!
this scene, this path
my eyes have tread before,
in these same shoes,
far older now,
professed of more experience.
Deceiving professions.
No more experience,
only more time.
Looped round,
My eyes have made full circle
And find themselves at the
beginning that they cannot
stop watching!
and could not
stop watching!
before.
So young then,
so young now.
I watched and watch,
I wanted and want to
stop watching!
I was and am cursed.
As I rub at my eyes
My eyes that have made full circle,
I yell:
“Stop watching!”
I could not then;
I cannot now.
It's been almost exactly a year since I wrote this poem but ironically, if fits far better now than it ever did before.
